Athlete Spotlight: Adair Amsler #2

SPORTS: softball

Tell us your story. What life experiences have impacted your journey? What motivates you? What is your “why"?

My journey has taught me to never take opportunities for granted. After dealing with unexpected health setbacks, surgery, and an injury that kept me from softball, I learned how much I truly love the game and how important it is to keep pushing through challenges. What motivates me is becoming the best version of myself and making the most of every opportunity I’m given. My “why” is remembering how hard I worked to get back to doing what I love and never taking that for granted.

What role does your faith play in your life and in your sports career?

My faith plays a huge role in my life and in softball. It reminds me that my worth is bigger than how I perform and that everything happens for a reason, even when I don’t understand it at the time. I try to play for something bigger than myself, trust God through the highs and lows, and use the opportunities He has given me to make a positive impact on others.

Do you have a favorite Bible verse? If so, which one and why?

My favorite Bible verse is Jeremiah 29:11 because it reminds me that God has a plan for my life, even when things don’t go the way I expected. It helps me trust His plan through both the good and difficult moments and remember that everything I go through has a purpose.

What accomplishment are you most proud of personally and athletically (name one of each)?

Personally, I’m most proud of how I’ve handled everything I’ve been through and continued to stay positive and keep going. Athletically, I’m most proud of coming back after being sick and injured and helping my team win the Colorado Sparkler 16U Power Pool.

What do you feel sets you apart from your competition and what skills do you currently possess that are your biggest assets?

I think what sets me apart is my speed, work ethic, and ability to handle adversity. My biggest assets are my speed, versatility as a slapper, ability to put pressure on the defense, and my competitiveness. I also think everything I’ve been through has made me mentally tougher and taught me how to keep competing even when things aren’t easy.

What skills are you most focused on improving?

I’m most focused on continuing to improve my consistency at the plate, becoming an even more well-rounded slapper, and continuing to develop my speed and strength. I’m always looking for little ways to improve my game and become a more complete player.

Tell us what a typical day or week is like for you:

A typical week for me is pretty busy! I do online school, which gives me the flexibility to train for softball throughout the week. Most days include schoolwork, hitting, workouts, and practices, and I also spend time volunteering at a preschool and babysitting when I can. On the weekends, I’m usually practicing, playing in tournaments, or traveling for softball.

What are your plans for the future and what is your number one objective for the next year / season?

My plans for the future are to continue playing softball at the highest level I can while also focusing on my education and preparing for college. My number one objective for this next season is to keep developing into a more complete player, stay consistent, and help my team compete at the highest level possible

What is the biggest challenge you see in achieving your upcoming goal or where could you use help?

My biggest challenge is staying healthy while continuing to push myself and improve. After dealing with setbacks in the past, I’ve learned how important it is to take care of my body, train the right way, and stay consistent. Having the right coaches and support system around me helps me continue working toward my goals.

What words of advice do you have for younger athletes that are up and coming?

My biggest advice would be to enjoy every moment and never take the opportunity to play for granted. Work hard, trust God’s plan, and don’t let setbacks make you give up. Believe in yourself, be a good teammate, and remember that your character matters just as much as how you perform.

Who was your favorite player growing up or who's style of play do you most admire?

Growing up, I’ve always admired Georgina Corrick. I love the way she competes, carries herself on and off the field, and the confidence she brings to the game. She’s someone I’ve looked up to and whose work ethic and approach to softball have always inspired me.

What one question would you have for your favorite athlete if they were sitting here now?

I would ask her, “What helped you stay confident and trust yourself during the hardest or most challenging parts of your career?”

Is there anything else you would like to share with the community?

would just say how grateful I am for everyone who has supported me throughout my journey. I hope my story can remind other athletes that setbacks don’t define you, to trust God’s plan, keep working hard, and never take the opportunity to do what you love for granted.
